Serious Question about Custody?
I just have 2 questions: I was the one who originally filed for Divorce but she got to the lawyer and file for a counter-petition against me.
1 – She wants to move to Chicago with my 2 year old, and I’m staying here in Houston , Tx
I read on the internet that she cannot move out-of-state with a child without my permission. Is that true? If it is, that would be great, what can I do?
2 – I also read on the internet that my best choice would be 50/50 joint custody, but can it be done like 6 months with mom in Chicago and 6 months with me in Houston ? Or something like that? She doesn`t want joint custody and is threatening in putting me to jail or being deported.I dont have any criminal background and Im not illegal. What can I do?
I don’t have lots of money for a lawyer so I`m really researching a lot and not getting anywhere, so your help would be great.
Thank you,
yes, She cant move out of state with you child without your permission.
Take it from me though. Im 15 and my parents divorced. I hated and still hate it. Going back and forth was hell. 50/50 would be hard for you child because as she gets older school will makes things complicated and if she has things to do with school. I am glad now i live with my father and my stepmother but when i was small i hated going back and forth. And for me they only lived about 1 1/2 hours away. Your talking about having you child states away. that will be tuff on your kid but its your choice. Just take it from me. Keeping her in one home will be so much easier. Weather it be hers or yours just ahve the child visit on weekends if she wants to or w/e. I know shes 2 but try to involve her in the choice to.
Really hard. Make sure you know what your doing
